Proof of registration for Visa application

Hi,
Does somebody knows if it's okay to submit my spouse's proof of registration even if he has a new address already? The new house where he live, that I lived also when i was there is a company house as part of his privilege as an employee and I dont think he can let him register there. I wonder if I can submit that as it is one of the requirements for my visa application. Do they personally check the address to see if my husband really lives or still residing in the address written in his municipal registration?

Not so sure about this; what I do know is that everyone intending to stay in Holland has to register on arrival to get a BSN number; without this number, you can't open a permanent bank account, work, register a car, or register with a doctor.

I have heard that some types of accommodation are not permitted for registration purposes; my advice would be to contact the gemeentehuis (town hall) for the town you are going to live in and ask for their advice. If you just Google the word "gemeentehuis" and the name of the town where you are going to live, you'll get a link to contact them.

You need to give the address where you actually going to live.
And to register in the database of the municipality. After the checkout you get that BSN number. If they have a suspicious about the amount of people who registered on that address, they can personally check.
To avoid fraud etc.

Thank you both for the response!
But the situation is regarding the document of my husband for me to get the visa and stay there. My husband"s address in his registration is still from our previous address. But we moved already even before i left holland. However, the house he currently live is from company and i dont think they like to register their employee from their housing benefit. i wonder if its okay to submit to dutch embassy his proof of registration with our former address?
Also, does the owner of the house where he was registered can cancel his registration anytime without my husband's permission or inform the municipal that he no longer lives there? I am really desperate to get some information coz we are hoping that me and my husband can be together specially for this holiday season. I appreaciate any comments. TIA!

Hi Azirac,

As I said earlier; I've never been in your situation, so I don't know the answer to your question and your situation is not the norm, so a straight answer doesn't appear on the Internet; hence my advice to contact the Gemeentehuis.

My opinion is that:

I would find it strange that your husbands company would object to an employee for which they are providing accommodation, to use that address to register his family; perhaps a direct question to your husbands HR department will clarify that point you raise.

With regards to the old address; you/your husband should have notified the Gemeentehuis of his change of address and you should have "written yourself out" when you left. If somebody has moved into your old address, the Gemeente will already know this (the new occupant has to register there); any irregularities in status will almost certainly make things difficult in the future.

And not only that but the new occupants get higer taxes based on the amount of people who live on that adress. To him or her a difficult task to proof it's not the case.
It's your duty to notify the gemeente with every move you make.

...... it also follows that with regards to the accommodation that you're now in (the company provided residence), if previous occupants have failed to write themselves out on leaving, could also still have their details registered, so you'll be paying higher taxes (gemeentebelasting) for waste and water than you should be; you won't know it because they'll just give you a bill. The Dutch are very hot on administration, but you have to help yourself to make it work for you; might be a good idea to ask when you register.

Should I will be the one to personally inform the gemeente about the update on my residency or can the owner of the house do that without me or even without my knowledge?

Registration is always down to the occupant (i.e. you and your husband). Nobody else can register on your behalf (except children of families - i.e. you have to register your children.

I see. How about the rights of the owner? Can he inform gemmeente that the previous person registered in his house moved out already? Thank you so much for very useful information.

No, that's the responsibility of the person who lived there. As we said earlier you, and only you, are responsible and have the duty to inform the gemeente of your movements.

Hi if you are going to apply for residency with your spouse under the terms of EU verification law you do not need a BSN number until you arrive in the Netherlands. You will be be except from providing an address on the visa application. However if you choose not to apply this way you will need to provide evidence of where you are going to stay, that you meet the financial requirements etc. When youbeventually apply for the BSN your spouse will have to provide a copy of the tenancy agreement agreement and sign a form to say tou are allowed to stay in the accommodation. He/ she will have to make sure the landlord is happy for you to register at the address.

Hi, does municipal or IND make calls or occular to see if a person really lives or still residing in that address? Do they do that as part of visa application verification process?

The IND have access to the national registration system, so know the names of all registered occupants at a Dutch address and its history (who has lived there); I don't know what checks they make in verifying the information they receive.

If they are suspecious about fraud they can do that.
