Registering for BRP in The Netherlands

spacedaway

Hello,

I'll be arriving in The Netherlands by next month and I understand the BRP registration needs to be done within 5 days of arrival. I'm a little confused on this, because I've seen most municipalities insist on a long term rental contract for this. Can someone who's done this process recently please throw some light on this? For context, the Municipalities I'm looking at are Leiden (South Holland), Haarlem (North Holland). Any tips/inputs would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Jay

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

You have misunderstood, you have 5 days to make an appointment with the Gemeente; the actual appointment may take longer than that, some people have told us of this taking months.  You can register from any address where the landlord has given you permission; if you subsequently move from the address to a new place, you have to notify the Gemeente at that time.

I hope this helps.

Oh ok, thank you so much for clarifying.
