EU citizens - Working in Germany & Living in the Netherlands

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all safe and healthy.

My husband and I work for a German company. I've got the opportunity to get transferred to Netherlands.

Question is - is my husband allowed to live in Netherlands while working for Germany? If yes, how would the registration, health insurance and taxation work? We do not want to keep an apartment in Germany and he would do his job 100% remotely.

It's not an issue for the Netherlands as far as I know. You should arrange mvv to the same address as you and get BSN number for him as well, so that he can have a bank account, use the healthcare system, etc.
But some remote companies doesn't let you relocate to some other country (because of some legal issues & tax purposes). One of my friends in Belgium had that issue and had to leave his job even if they were %100 remote.
So I think you'd better check if his remote job allows him to live in some place other than Germany.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Where you are assessed for taxes etc is decided by where you are classed as resident (where you live for more than 183 days p/tax year); that said I know the EU has made provision for cross-border workers, so it's doable, I know people who do it, but they do it cross border (i.e. live in the Netherlands and cross daily into Germany to their place of work). Your husband needs to speak to his company to find out how they are going to pay his Dutch taxes and Health Insurance contribution.
