Stuttgart International School Comments/Experiences

I’d like to share review of SIS Swiss International School Fellbach.

With regret we have to admit that SIS School gave our son almost nothing but took a lot of money that could be invested in a far better way for our son. This school lacks professional teachers, as result one teacher can teach everything possible, like Sports and German and Sachunterricht etc. There were some teachers who allowed themselves to yell at children and use inappropriate words continuously towards them. There is also a lack of professional personnel at supervision times, when the staff simply does not know how to deal with children when it comes to conflicts.

The level of German teached here is very low and bilingual system makes it even worse, so this school may be OK for students that are temporarily in Germany and need an international environment to continue studying and know English. The students are allowed to do almost anything at this school and when it comes to bullying, the administration does not take actions for years, unfortunately.

There are great professional teachers and administrative staff at the school as well, but they cannot cover everything or change anything, as the main point of this private school remains business and what is important for earning money.

For those who wish to have a good possibilities for the future in Germany, I would not recommend this school to anybody. It is sometimes unclear if this is so or you just think it is so bad, until you switch to a state school and have possibility to compare.

@Alexander Radziyevsky Thanks for your review. Please note that yours is a single opinion, which should be taken into consideration together with other assessments, e.g. from school review sites (which this forum is not).

Also: Of course a private, commercial school wants to make a profit. And of course this can create conflicts of interest with teaching needs (which cost money).

Compared to German public schools, which are non-profit, free of charge and generally offer good quality of instruction (in German language), private schools in Germany are often worse - and therefore (as you said) recommendable only to foreign-language kids who stay here only for a short time (international schools), or to those who fail in public ones and can afford private teaching ("stupid but rich").

The notion that private schools are a higher league does not exist in Germany (except for a very few elite boarding schools, which then cost far more than SIS, and maybe the parallel Waldorf education system in the eyes of its fans). When in Germany, for the sake of your kids, send them to normal public schools if at all possible!
