I am not much help except to individuals. At my age, I have seen many scams, but I have yet to be scammed. I have maybe missed some good things paying off. But they did not smell or taste right. We have encountered many people with whom we have not chosen to deal or interact. However, we both possess many mechanical skills, and that is how my wife and I have achieved as much as we have. We had smart parents who taught us to work hard and put in long hours, and not be wasteful. And they also lived without being scammed. Sometimes you do not win; that is when you change course. It requires looking ahead and planning your actions to achieve good outcomes. I spent most of my life in the US, and my wife was born in Europe and has lived in many places, as I have. We do not have trouble with people or places. Because we only deal with people we trust. And requires seeing who they are and if they are honest. I have been coming to France since 1979, when I first visited to meet my in-laws. It has been much easier than for most expats.
