Expats in Pau?

We also have just moved to Pau and would like to expand our social opportunities.  I'm originally from Dallas, Texas but married a French transplant and we are now raising our 2 year old son in Pau.  We love food and wine and share the sentiment that nobody should eat or drink alone I can be reached at *** if you would like to share my contact details with your brother.  We are a young family and would love the opportunity to meet new people in Pau.

There is an english speaking group in Pau which organizes many activities (walks, lunch, board games, etc)

Many anglopaupyr group members are active retirees.

Pau is very nice, the weather is usually good (not as good as SF - how could it) and and there are opportunities for a range of outdoor activities.

For retirees speaking french there are activities organized by the city (e.g. art and language classes) as well as "clubs" (such as sky clubs which organize day-long sky thrips to nearby winter resorts - not much french is needed for that)

There is also a group/club for welcoming people who move to the area - mostly retired people who don't have local connections through work for example (in french but there are foreigners there as well).

They organize seminars, day trips to Spain, etc.

And there are also Americans around, even Californians I lived in the bay area many years and I know someone else who lived in N Cal for some time.

my husband and i are currently in pau exploring it as a potential place to live. we are would love to take your brother to lunch while here. unsure how to connect. Hello, I am in Jurançon, not far from Pau, I'm British, born in London, but have lived here for 20 years; I set up a small retreat centre here with my husband, I teach English in a local school and run a little gite.  I'm on my own these days as I lost my husband last year and I'd be happy to meet your brother and maybe eat with him once in a while, and hear about his books, help out in any way I  can. One of my sons lives in New York now with his wife so the US is not as alien to me as it once was!!

I think it is such a loving thing that you have done for your brother reaching out in this way.

Hello, we are an English/Slovak family currently on holidays near Pau. Would love to meet other expats as we are considering moving into the area.  We have three boys 14y, 12y and 10 months. We are here til 27th August.

Looking forward to hearing from someone.

We are also looking to spend a lot more time in Pau My daughter and grandson live in Laroin and we are planning to convert the barn attached to her house next year. Once completed we plan to spend 6 months or more every year in Laroin a village about 30 minutes from Pau,  so we would love to meet other people and join in activities.

Hey my husband and I are closing on our house in Pau on January 7, 2025. We still have to do some renovations, sell our primary residence in Atlanta, and move over with our dog and three cats. It would be lovely to meet your brother!

I have been considered Narbonne abd would like to correspond with other mature expats there., esp happily single ones for socializing and learning about the area.

But I've hear good things about Pau. Can you tell me about the topography, weather, and affordability. Also Would like to thank the single granddad who suggested the home finding service his friends run. I'd like to correspond about that with him. Thanks everyone for helping each other.
