Upgrading electricity connection - single to 3 phase

Hi Expats.

I'm Spike, new on the forum. I have purchased a house in Petokladentsi (Belene municipality, Pleven province). I am originally from South Africa and have lived in Ireland for the past few years, and will be moving to Bulgaria next year once my wife receives her Irish citizenship.

Now for my question.

Has anyone here upgraded an old single phase connection to a 3 phase? What was the cost charged by the utility provider? Currently on a low capacity 8kW single phase, so as part of my full rewire, I want to get ERM West to also upgrade the incoming capacity, either to the maximum single phase limit of 13kW (if no 3 phase is available in the area) or to 3 phase hopefully.

If any of you have done this upgrade, what was the charge for the upgrade from the utility (excluding private electrician work such as consumer unit and wiring etc)?

In principle it's a fairly straightforward, albeit somewhat time-consuming, process. You'll need to go to the local office of your electricity company and put in a request, They'll tell you what they need to do - and what you'll have to pay. It should be around €250 for a standard 15kw, higher rating is around €28 per additional kW. Bear in mind that you're responsible for running the necessary cabling from the street-level meter cabinet (ТЕПО) to your internal main fuse-box.
