Emails from BG to UK.
How has your experience been concerning emails from BG Estate agents etc ?.
We actually found the right for us and sent several emails to the company selling it.Days passed without any contact until we saw the dreaded SOLD sign ,,we were gutted so I decided to phone them ! They added us to their WhatsApp and showed us all their replies .They said " check your spam " folder and there they were!! This has happened with 2 or 3 agents ! I have changed settings now but we lost the house we wanted !! Have you guys had similar experiences in the early days?Thanks George.
I'm so sorry you lost the house! Hoping there will be an even better one for you!
It's not something I've had any problems with using Gmail, but I still check my spam folder every couple of days just in case. I've found some email providers are extra touchy about emails from certain countries. AOL & Yahoo seem to let the most rampantly obvious spam through while sending clearly non-spam emails to the dreaded span box!
Actually, we had similar issue when looking for our house… but the problem is not with the ’emails’. The problem is that most estate agents or companies do not update their websites/adverts promptly, many of the adverts you see are actually sold ages ago. The house that we bought in the end, after months living in it, we still find adverts selling it 🤣 and we have to contact the companies to take down the adverts.
If there’s a few contact options for the agents/companies, we suggest that you use Viber which is the most popular here.
The same thing happened to me. We bought in 2017 and I could still see photos of our house on estate agents websites in 2021. I had to email several of them saying that we owned the house and it was no longer on the market.
Hi
Never had problems with BG emails ..
Estate agents I can't say about as I went to see houses for sale myself and touched base with them in person
Sadly, what tutisservis and Kath say is true.
Like emails going to spam, leaving old sold listings showing as for sale is also something that happens worldwide. But it seems very common on Bulgarian estate agent websites, and is a real problem when house-hunting.
Sometimes good houses do get listed and sold very fast and missing an email might make all the difference. But more often, when a house looks too good to be true for the asking price, it's because it already sold for that price years ago.
I find BG agents are not good at there jobs .. they actually ask you what you want sell it for and don't seem to understand market price at all ..
And that's quite a worry if your selling as you want your house pitched at the right price ..
In UK they do at least understand what the house price index for your area ... Bulgaria is not all about the city's .. and yes they are sloppy as I also suffered the same thing with houses in Samokov being up for sale but already sold uugh so annoying when you come from UK to see houses that are not for sale
@philip Mckay That's a good shout Philip we might rent for a year them spend time driving around and cut out the middleman, some agents want 2000 Eiros minimum irrespective of house cost , then you have all the other fees
.Come to think about it how long can you use a UK car in BG ?
You can use it for 6 months George and then it's either out of BG or get it registered in BG .. please bear in mind that you will need all the ownership documents for any vehicle you take to BG and also bear in mind that they really do hate right hand drive cars.. there are a couple of posts regarding problems registering right hand drive cars to BG plates ..
It really put me off taking one .. apparently they also like to see the invoice when you bought it !
The price of used cars / vans in BG is crazy hence the thought to keep my wife's low mileage asdamobile but I hear you , That explains why LHD cars/ vans have inflated prices over here, there's always someone somewhere making a buck eh 😉 We could maybe give it to our daughter & partner.Here we go ,wish I had known this lol, we saw a lovely place an elderly woman was selling as her partner had passed ,they had spent a tidy sum ,the place was immac ! but there was also a LHD car included in the deal ! Now I get it ! Thanks Bond, Q .

The other problem taking a right hand drive car to BG is that when you want to get it registered to BG plates you will have to get a document of conformity (EU standards). And you will have to get the lights changed to left hand drive. Probably cost you upwards of £1000 .. iv researched all this stuff and my conclusion is buy a car from BG as its less stress .. .. all my life IV bought new cars and run them into the ground and then buy another.. the one i have now ill scrap in January when we go fir the 3 month ski trip.. it will be just shy of 20 years old Volvo c70 convertable .. ill get £384 for it
cost me £21500 20 years ago

Most modern cars you can change the lights yourself by flicking a switch on the dashboard, so costs you nothing.
Well there you go George.. SimCity has the answer. If you can't find it on your car just ask SimCity he can tell you where it is

I've just been through the rigmarole of importing my UK registered rhd van. The problem I really had was that nobody seemed to know the rules post Brexit, not even the so called fixer companies.
For me I imported my Renault Trafic because it's a van I know inside out and knew what work it had carried out on it. So I drove it here for 6 months then duly paid the import tax and VAT, I submitted a downloaded receipt from the internet with my valuation to customs which they duly accepted. I paid around 1600 leva for the total of 30% tax. I had by this time bought cheap replacement lhd headlights from Germany on Ebay and fitted them.
I then trotted off to Vratsa KAT , purchased my certified fire extinguisher, eco tax, etc and had my documents checked and then went to have my lights checked and VIN where the Police Chief said I had to come back the following week for a Technotest. This I did only to be told by the guy from Technotest that he wouldn't inspect a RHD vehicle as it couldn't possibly pass with the steering wheel on the right. I spoke to the same Police Chief from the week before and he said its a new law since Brexit, you can't register it.
So now I'm like a dog with a bone, I send off to Renault for a Certificate of Conformity, but because my Trafic is 2008 the certificate is a type conformity Barre Rouge and not specific to the VIN, most places in Europe this would be acceptable but not here. This i found out because i took it to KAT Sofia who again said you need a Technical Test, but Technotest the company that all the KAT offices use as I found out will not test RHD vehicles point blank. Cue my lucky break and a fixer at Sofia KAT gave me a phone number to call for a company called DEKRA, I spoke to the manager at their inspection center in Sofia who speaks reasonable English and he said bring it to me and we will test it. I took it to their garage on the outskirts of Sofia where they basically checked the lights, VIN, seats, seatbelts, general condition etc to ascertain it was up to German type approval, it cost me 514 leva, but knowledge is everything, he talked me through how i would be given a certificate for technical test but i would have to take this to the Transport Ministry in Vratsa and apply for a Certificate of Exemption to register a RHD vehicle. When I went back 3 days later to pick up the Technical Test certificate, his secretary had even typed out all the application forms in Bulgarian for me. On returning to Vratsa I put the application in (100 leva) and 15 days later I had a nice shiny certificate to pick up. I went back to KAT and sailed through with that certificate, one final thing was the MOT which took 5 minutes where they just checked the brakes and tyres.
Sorry its long winded but it's a full explanation of the process now and if you want any help please let me know.
@grahamstark1
Great info!
@grahamstark1
Hey,Graham,,long winded is good,the devil is in the details ,So I,m guestimating total cost as 2215 leva (£985) plus lights extinguisher and running around. £1100 ? .I see 2005 traffics with 200,000 on the clock !!! Going for 5k in BG .
I saw 2006 lhd traffic for sale in Holland, looks brand new minted with all the seats in tbe back etc, 54,000 miles ,they can register it for any country aswell ,price was £11,000 !!! .
I just want to take a run around van for house materials etc.
Thanks for sharing 👍 George.
@georgewheelwright
Wow, i paid 3.5k for my 2008 2Trafic Sport 2 years ago as i wanted the option of six seats when we had visitors. It had 175k on the clock., and I have fitted new injectors, pig of a job, altenator and battery, handbrake cables, split charge system and Lipo4 battery for camping and been stopped many times by Bulgarians asking if i will sell it.
Nice van ! I got a 2012 127 sport met black with leisure batt bes etc ,the guy said it won't pull diesel when the tank goes below half and the sliding door has a bad bash, got it for £1200 ! The fuel fault was the fuel line connector on the top of the fuel filter, you could pull it off by hand,fitted anew primer bulb sorted, got a new door same colour ,that was lucky passed MOT first rime but the bad news ! Blue smoke after its sat over night,,apparently it might be the turbo / seals ? Goes like a train ,,have to make a decision better the devil you know,its about the price I paid for rhe van ro get a new turbo fitted? Brave man doing injectors! but you've given it a new lease of life ,ive seen traffics in BG with 450,000 km still going well! I don't know why someone doesn't make an 8 foot bar with the injector tool on the end for max torque ! Well done Graham !
@SimCityAT
Oh I was trying to connect it to chatter about cars just could not see what it meant. Must be a response regarding real estate agents
