EU Blue Card VS Single Work Permit

lebimmi

Hello Guys,

I tried to research the forum to understand the difference between those 2 options (EU Blue Card and Single Work Permit)

- I signed a contract with an employer in Belgium and as I understood, they are currently preparing my Single Work Permit (I paid around 366 Euros for it...)

- I tried to ask them about the EU blue card since I understood that it grants me more privileges as an employee, but they said they don't know anything about it.

- The question is: Who should apply for the EU blue card (The employer or myself?) and when? (Can I apply after joining the work or should it be before the Single Work Permit?)

Your help would be much appreciated since I can't find a resource that explains clearly the difference.

Thank you

If you don't manage to find answers otherwise, I would advise you to contact a lawyer (ALTEA lawyers are good) specialised in immigration law. They will charge you a consultation, but will give you the proper info. Other option is to contact agii Belgium (google it), it offers free legal over-the-phone help for immigrants in Belgium. I am not sure if they will give answers in English though, but you can try.
