Panamanian citizenship issues

I became naturalized as a Panamanian citizen in 2013. I have lived in Panama for the past 25 years. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I am also an American citizen. I was born in Pennsylvania. I think it is good to have citizenship if you plan to live in Panama.

I think a dual living arrangement between the U.S. and Panama is very doable , I know people doing it now. Since you’re eligible for Panamanian citizenship, you have a smoother path than most. The residency process usually starts with collecting your U.S. documents, getting them apostilled, and then officially translated for Immigration. From there, you can apply for residency, and later it can lead to citizenship.

You will have absolutely no problem. You only need to get your birth certificate from the US government and at the most have it translated by an official translator in Panama and have the US Embassy validate the document.

If I recall correctly you can go to the Tribunal Electoral TE and get your cédula straight up.

Remember to enter Panama as a Panamanian citizen. Show them your birth certificate and your passport page that shows your place of birth "Panama."

The government of Panama never recognized the Canal Zone as legitimate so anyone born on Panamanian soil, including the Zone are de facto citizens.
