Using Tricare For Life (Military Retiree) in DR?

GuestPoster38

Any retired military out there that use Tricare for Life (TFL) within the DR?

How is it working out for you?

Can the local places bill TFL direct, or do you have to shell OOP and then seek reimbursement?

Any problems finding providers that will TFL?

And anything else you feel would be useful to know.

Many thanks,

Jim

I will be following this with interest. My understanding is that it does not work here.

Tricare for Life does honor care in the Dominican Republic from in and out of network providers (See tricare website).  Additionally, there are several tricare providers listed on the Tricare Overseas search page in Santo Domingo (doctors, labs and at least 2 hospitals).  Other than the listed network providers you may have to pay first and then file your claim with TRICARE for reimbursement.
