DM Message @planner she maybe able to assist in one way or another.

I can  tell you that  if you are under  age 65 you have multiple options. the two big companies which have decent service are Humano and Universal.  I say decent as NO ONE has good service so we do the best we can. I have a large group with Humano and am most familiar with them. 

If you are over  65 there is only one option and its not good.

I am 60, but my brother is 67, which is the one and only option for him?

Both of us are US citizens.

citizenship wont matter but age does. the only option for your brother is  Senasa and its only available via their website.

I was told that is only available to Dominican Citizens and not for foreigners. But I will check into it.

My husband and I are in Planner's Humano Max plan. We have both had surgery - mine minor, his a spinal disc replacement. Sometimes getting the authorization is tricky, but Planner helps with that as well. Overall, we've been very happy with the insurance over the past 5 years.

For the Senasa for over-65's, do foreigners have to have their cedula before we can apply?

Here is the info on the Senasa plan:

*Insurance Plan Name*: Larimar

*Insurtance Type*: Private

*Age*: No limit

*ID*: Passport or Cedula

*Payment Method*: Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Cash, etc

*Plan payment*: Every three months DOP$5,241, Every six months DOP$10,482 or annually DOP$20,964

*COVERAGE*

-Ambulatory Consultations: 80%

-Ambulatory Medicine: DOP$4,000

-Special Studies: 80%

-Emergencies: 100%

-Hospitalization: 100%

-Catastrophic Cases: 80% (DOP$500,000)

Important Note: at the age of 70 payment amount doubles. You also get some tests done at the age of 55 or 65 above before getting into their network. Last but not least, after your sixth month in the network is that you can start getting approvals for the special studies.

Note: you will need to pay for any checkup and tests needed and that doesn't guarantee coverage. 

This does not have reimbursement so you must go to doctors and clinics that accept Senasa.

This seem a little high, we will check tomorrow in La Vega

This is in pesos and in my opinion its expensive for the coverage it offers.  IF you are under  65 there are way better options.
