Getting medical certificate from USA

Hi all,

I love the forums here, they’ve helped me immensely in preparation for a residency visa application, thanks in advance to anyone with insight on the process.

At the moment though I’m at a loss of how to get the medical certificate. My primary care doctor just moved to a different field of medicine so I’m no longer his patient, and all the other doctors in my area are booked out 7 months in advance or more. (This wouldn’t be a problem except I was planning to move down  much sooner and I’ve already got the fbi buena conducta certificate, which I imagine I’d need to get another if too much time passes.)

Here is the question:

Is there any other way to get the medical certificate in the USA, besides through a primary care doctor?

welcome to the forums and glad you find it helpful!

Wow that is an issue. Do you have any walk in clinics you could use?

@CM97 you may consider a TeleMed visit with the physician online and have them complete the certification. I guarantee you you will not wait seven months, seven weeks or even seven days to get a TeleMed visit with someone in the United States you will pay for it most likely out of pocket I hope that helps and as I say in some circles, that’s my nickel

When i did mine last year at abreu clinic in santo domingo, I think it took a couple of days.  it was not bad at all.

Oscar this is in the USA not here.

got it, thanka

Thanks @planner and @rfmaurone for the ideas, I will look into both options!

You are very welcome!

I have had to do these over the years for work permits,  visas, etc.  The last one I did in the USA was at a walk-in clinic in suburban Chicago. It was a painless in/out that took 10 minutes,  tops.  That was for the Bahamas. For the DR I got my certificate from Jamaica,  an entirely different process that I wont go into here.  The requirements are not too tough here, you can land and have it done in a matter of hours.  They just want to know that you aren't bringing TB or similar into the country.
