How long are the medical and criminal record certificates good for?

CM97

Hello again,

I am still in the process of applying for a residency visa, long story short I’ve had a delay in collecting documents, and I finally have them all ready to be apostillized, however my medical certificate and criminal record check will be about two months old when I submit them with the visa, do I need to get new ones? I haven’t found much info on this yet.

I believe the medical is only good for 30 days.  Let me ask Lishali

So it's way more. Complicated than I thought.  You need to confirm directly with Lishali or your lawyer as. It depends what we are speaking about.

Websites seem to be way out of date and have incorrect info on the process!

BTW I was wrong above. It's not 30 days!

Ok thanks for the information and quick replies! I will investigate further

I just got my residency in January 2023 - Medical and Criminal are valid for 90 days, birth cert and marriage license are 6 months.  And the medical cert no longer has to be apostilled.  Honestly, if you want the most accurate answers, call the Consolate that you will be submitting your documents to and they will tell you exactly what you need.  I found them WAY more helpful then my lawyer.  If you happen to be going to the Miami Consulate, the number is 305-358-3220.

Sadly Stacy not all consulates are that way.  Many  have no idea and frankly do not care. BUT  sounds like the Miami consulate has the act together. Good resource for many.

@CM97 normally from what I understand 6 months, however, better to hear from a lawyer , I read it on the migration website of the DR but still recommend asking an attorney

@planner Sadly, not all lawyers have the best information either.  My lawyer constantly gave me bad information and the process that should have taken only a couple of months, took me a year.  I had to get ALL my documents TWICE because they had expired thanks to the delays and false information from my lawyer.  It wasn't until I called the consulate myself that I was able to get it taken care of.  Therefore, I can tell you from experience (since this JUST happened to me in late 2022), the medical cert and criminal records are valid for 90 days and birth cert and marriage license is 6 months.

I am sorry about your experience. And yes, not all lawyers actually know what they are doing.

Hello to all.

Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Miami website states the FBI clearance is valid for 9 months. I was happy to find this because our clearance was obtained 3 months ago.

They sit with your documents so it expires and then ask for another one to delay the process.
