What to expect at residency appt at DGM?

Mila V

My appointment is this upcoming Thursday and I just want to know what to expect with that appointment and the medical appointment after?  The residency is through family reunification if that helps

Also, they are charging me an overstay fee for 3-9 months overstay but I’ve never overstayed. If I show proof of that with my passport stamps will they remove that fee?

It should be fairly routine.  As for the overstay fine, my advice, just pay it.  You risk delaying everything over a few dollars.  Last thing you want to do is piss off a clerk! They tend to be over worked and under paid!

I agree with Planner on the fee! I would hate paying it on principle, but would do it to expedite the process.

I don't know if family reunification has a different process, but as pensioners, the appointment was just having our fingerprints and pictures taken, signing a few documents, and paying fees. We didn't have any type of interview.

For the medical, you'll meet with a doctor who will go over a medical history with you, then have blood drawn, provide a urine sample, and have a chest xray.

@ddmcghee I have a question for you, the finger prints and pictures taken you had when you were ready to receive your residency cards and sedula? And medical exam was prior when you had your residency interview?

@ryzik68

We never had an "interview" when we first applied - no questions about why we wanted residency or anything like that. Maybe I'm misremembering the pictures and fingerprints on that first visit, maybe that wasn't until we were approved and returned to get our Residencia - it was over 6 years ago.
