Residency - 2025

classygringo

I have been renewing my residency for a number of years and every single year I experience the same thing. I am told to upload it again in jpg format. I carefully check all the documents and am sure they are in jpg. I also work heavily on a computer daily so I am sure this is done correctly. I am just curious if anyone else experience this or is this just me? I literally delete and upload the same exact image not changing a thing, and they eventually approve it. But nothing has changed it was jpg before it is when I upload for 5th, 6th time. Why does this happen? Just curious. Also wanted to ask about going permanent residence did anyone else apply immediately after 5th renewal of temp or did you wait the year? My thoughts were to just start the clock on permanent asap so I don't have to go through this every year.

Nothing surprises me about this.  Sadly the best programmers work remotely for non Dominican companies.  I currently employ 48 Dominican programmers and almost all of them previously worked for government or lol cal banks and large corporations here.  Often the issue is not the actual programmers but the lack of correct planning on projects.

Sounds like the coding has an error and it's never been properly fixed, they just patched it. Errors like that and bad coding exist all over banking platforms, insurance platforms etc.

I am not sure about when you can apply for permanent after you 5th renewal.  Let me ask!

Semiretired

I applied for the permanent residency 45 days before the 5th temp renewal expired.  It is my understanding that is the earliest you can apply while your temporary residency is still active. It takes about 4 months for the temp to permanent residency transition to be completed.  I have never had an issue with the uploading of the jpeg documents.

classygringo

Thanks semiretired did you get permanent residency ? I thought you had to renew the 5th time with temporary then apply.

classygringo

@planner

Thanks for the reply planner. Hopefully they get this issue fixed. Until then I will hope for permanent residency.

Semiretired

@classygringo

Yes, I got the permanent residency. While your fifth temporary residency still has 45 days before expiration, you can apply for permanent residency. Of course, some of the investor and retiree residency categories have different rules. My temporary residency was based on family reunification.

@Semiretired

Thanks Semiretired. Good info.

Hello, by any chance anybody is working with Lishali on getting residency now? Trying to get in touch with her since August and she is not responding. I hope she is OK, we were working with her on preparing all necessary documents and now I can’t reach her.

Also, did anyone applied and receive residency based upon investment (villa purchase)?

thank you

planner

I will reach out to her and to you

@ryzik68

I too have tried to reach out to her with no response.

ddmcghee

For those not getting responses from Lishali, how are you trying to reach her? WhatsApp? Email? Phone calls?

yes and

all of these

So this can be part of the problem.  Lishali has assigned a method of communicating to her clients and prospects I am told. When we use multiple means of communicating it completely  complicates and doubles the work.  Having to check messages at multiple different sources simply confuses things.   It applies to me as well. I communicate via whatsapp with her only.

I have reached out to her and she is aware and trying to streamline even more.

If I am understanding things correctly one way to get residency is to have a set income coming in from an out of the DR source. If my husband and I rent our house out here in Canada and the income from that rental meets the income requirement is this enough to meet the residency requirement? I’m also curious if they take into consideration the mortgage payment we have on the house or would they just want to see the income side?

planner

I know the long-term rental contract will qualify but not sure about the mortgage being considered. You need to ask a well informed lawyer

ddmcghee

For the rentista residency, you have to have a 5-year history of passive income to qualify.

classygringo

Can anyone let me know if they needed to bring the documents with them to the appoitnment this year? I recall last year I brought everything and they only used the appointment paper that I brought nothing more.

ddmcghee

What harm is there in bringing it? Better safe than sorry!

Semiretired

@classygringo

My motto is to bring everything, anything not on the list if it's closely related, and an extra copy if possible. Has saved me an extra trip a number of times.

planner

Bring it all just in case!!!

CHRISTOPHER DAVID56

@classygringo

Yes, recommend.

UncleBuck

Yes, bring everything including your pictures.  Both front and profile.  They are taking almost everything as a physical copy now.

They took a copy of my passport, Cédula, even the letter you write to go along with the application, proof of online payment, both pictures, repatriation insurance and the letter of good conduct.  The only thing they didn't want was the copy of my residency card because they keep the card itself.

classygringo

@ddmcghee

Was no harm in bringing I just ran out of ink and could not locate any nearby. Luckily I found a spare I forgot I had.

classygringo

I can confirm they did ask for everything including 2 copies of passport size photos. I'm glad I brought everything because I have not seen the lines so long since covid. I would have hated to wait in that line again. Thanks for your response everyone.
