Purchasing Zoloft (Sertraline Hydrocholide) 100mg in Vietnam

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know whether you can purchase sertraline hydrochloride 100mg over the counter in Vietnamese pharmacies? The brand name sold in Vietnam is apparently Zoloft. I am going out with a 3 month supply and my doctor has assured me it's a widely used medication so I should be able to get it. I will be based in Vung Tau but will go to Saigon if need to purchase it. Names of reliable phamacies people have purchased Zoloft or Sertraline Hydrochloride in Saigon or Vung Tau would be extremely helpful:)

Thanks!

I checked two pharmacies for you.

1051 Huynh Tan Phat, Quan 7; 203B Nguyen Chi Thanh, Cho Lon, Quan 5. Both had ZOLOFT; OTC (no prescription), 30 x 50mg (one box) VND465,000/box.

Thank you so much! Much appreciated! :D There was alot of comments on another forum about fake medication from China being a problem. Is this something either of you have experienced? Really appreciate the help so thank you!

Hi Lostvietdreamer, Thank you very much for posting. Is the pharmacy on Ba Cu Street quite reliable with my comments about fake meds above?

Also if going into malaria risk areas are you able to get doxycycline from phamarcies?

Thanks again!

Since this medication (zoloft [dot] com) is in the official formulary of the national government, they act as a purchasing agent for the country.

The major source of counterfeit drugs in VN is Thailand and many trucks and heavily laden motorcycles attract inspections. The Mekong Delta is a big smuggling centre through the myriad river tributaries that cross the border.

China is the source for other things such as bad baby formula, poisonous jewellery, etc. They are also the source of fruit 'extenders' which are injected in to the fruit to keep them looking good - predominantly fruits like Durian or Jack-fruit.

Since official government approved and sourced drugs are so cheap, there is no profit in it for them. They are into things like Viagra (nearing the end of it's patent).

When  you buy drugs, choose pharmacies near a hospital as the drugs are more fresh due to higher sales.
