How to contact Julian
Has anyone managed to contact Julian of expat.com?
I remember contacting him by email a few years ago, but didn't receive any response.
A thread I posted yesterday suddenly disappeared without explanation. I'm guessing it's a technical issue. Posted OP of thread again. Same ole. Same old. Disappeared!.
Really need to speak to someone in the know, as this is clearly not the manner to run a professional outfit.
Thanks.

His name is Julien:

Since you previously sent him a message, there is likely still an active thread between the two of you in your private message inbox.
Even if you never heard back from him, you can choose reply and send him another message.
I doubt it was a technical issue concerning your thread.
I was about to reply to that thread and I noticed someone had requested that admin take the thread down.
By the time I hit reply, your thread was no longer available in the system.

I'm already aware of his name, and have seen his profile on here.
I'm asking if anyone has managed to contact him and received a reply or some acknowledgement.
If I never heard back from him, why on earth would I waste my time and repeat the same, only to not receive any reply again.
Really need to be having this conversation with someone clued-up.

There you go again...
First, you obviously didn't know his name, or you wouldn't have misspelled it twice; once in your title and once in your post.
I sent you his profile because that's where you send him a private message.
I have personally had numerous connections with Julien through private messaging.
If you've been having a pity party for two or three years because someone didn't reply to one message from you, I don't think Julien is going to be able to help you with your problems

I've contacted him only once via PM, he replied in a timely manner even though he was on holiday at the time. Other than that one occasion, I simply talk to him on the designated forum for the team.

How do you mean 'Talk to him on designated forum for the team?' Do we have access to this designated forum or is it Experts and VIP members only?

You wrote "Julian"
Without saying that I was correcting your spelling I wrote that his name is "Julien"
You then replied that you know what his name is, along with another one of your dismissive missives, Mr. Peabody.
I'm only giving back what I get from you, Oh Wise One who is more of an expert on the Vietnamese language than our official expert.

There is no Vietnamese language here on this thread.
Try and focus on the content of the post not person posting.

You wrote (in THIS thread):
"A thread I posted yesterday suddenly disappeared without explanation. I'm guessing it's a technical issue. Posted OP of thread again. Same ole. Same old. Disappeared!."
I'm saying I think you guessed wrong.
I'm also saying that your arguments about Vietnamese language translations with our forum expert are a matter of public record.
I'm saying you sometimes draw attention to yourself in a negative way.
I'm saying it's a good guess that your thread was deleted more than once because you've likely managed to irritate a moderator.
Being something of an expert at irritating moderators myself, I know of what I speak...
😉

It's for all Team members -- Founder, Admins, mods, volunteer experts and advisors. VIPs are not part of the Team.
Ahahaha, I take it this is about the thread I saw briefly earlier comprising umpteen paragraphs of whining because a few strangers on the internet disagreed with you about something?
Possibly it was deleted for not being up to your usual high comedic standards?
I am eagerly awaiting your next masterpiece... "How do I know when to pull my pants up?" wherein many sage advices will be generously offered unto you, only to be spurned and replied to with insults.
But you should really stop
ing all your own posts, it's creepy.

Nowhere near creepy as being a troll. That benefits no one!!

Don't worry, although pharmacies are running low on face masks . .. . they still have plenty of diapers.
Hi guys, I'm here, still reading you, but I am experiencing complicated personal travel issues at the moment ... (borders are closed and I am stuck in the US where I came for a training, which got cancelled)
I'll review this thread later today

Your PM system is disabled, that meaning you can't be informed of issues, those including why threads have been removed from the forum.
Julien is available by PM but he is especially busy at the moment
sanooku wrote:Really need to speak to someone in the know, as this is clearly not the manner to run a professional outfit.
Insults are probably not the best way to make a point.
Your choice to disable your PM system means the usual courtesy messages can't sent to you.
Perhaps you might consider turning on private messages in order to avoid misunderstandings.

I've been using the pm system throughout. Even, Pm'd a moderator recently.
I wasn't even aware pm system could be disabled. I wouldn't have done this myself. Wouldn't know how.

Maybe you are blocking Fred...?
OceanBeach92107 wrote:Maybe you are blocking Fred...?
Either way, he would have been aware of the issues had I been able to contact him.
Since that's not possible at the moment, perhaps a quick review of the policies might be in order:
https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=190521
The entire concept of this forum is to promote the free exchange of information and ideas. Therefore, everyone has a fundamental right to form and express their own opinions, provided that they comply with the terms of use of the website. However, it is not acceptable to criticize or abuse another member in any way for simply expressing their opinion or making a personal observation. If you find the opinion expressed offensive you should not take matters into your own hands nor should you make any abusive comments: please use the Report button so that we manage the issue.
Any postings deemed to be abusive, offensive or obscene will be immediately removed.
That leaves a little room for team members to decide what is offensive, and that opinion might vary between people, but once a member of the senior moderation team has removed something, other team members will follow their lead and remove any repeat postings, as I did in the case of the second posting. I'm somewhat open minded, but my opinion comes second to the rules.
I will be honest, I didn't find it especially offensive, but other people did so I had to remove the re-post.
Hi everyone,
@sanooku :
Kindly note that Julien is actually very busy with some personal matters, i am therefore taking the lead on this issue.
I am closing this thread and getting in touch with you in private.
Thanks everyone for your understanding,
Priscilla
