Where is the best place to live in Thailand for rent, safety ect?

We live on a gated community in Cha-am which suited our needs when we bought about 15 years ago as we needed to know there was some degree of security when we were away.We have never had an issue with crime or safety here. A friend of ours had a beautiful house in its own grounds a couple of miles out of town but didn’t dare leave the house for fear of it being burgled, not for us. Down to personal choice really.Now I know Cha-am isn't everybody’s cup of tea but it’s relaxed and has everything my Thai wife and I need and now that we are retired we can spend more time here and to be fair it is the more mature expats that stay here,a bit like Gods waiting room😂We have some good friends in the area, both Thai & expats. If we want a greater selection of shops we nip down to HiaHin. If you are able to,travel around as much as you can to find a place you like the look of. We have a lot of family in Isan we love to visit but we wouldn’t want to live there.
