Tourist Visa USA Thai Agent in BK

I am having trouble understanding the forms that the Thai Embassy wants me download. One seems to ask for a photos of me holding my passport. That seems weird. I understand the pages of my passport for the last 1 year. I understand the hotel reservation or condo lease. I understand the up to passport photos. I understand the declaration.

I need a lot of hand holding so for the Thai portion I am going to pay $1000.00 USD to a agent in BK to help me with my bank account and Visa. Does that seem to be a lot of money. If so can you recommend some other agency.

If I don't get my tourist Visa on time in the USA can I still get a IO Retirement Visa in Thailand?

Why don't you just do what the Thai embassy tells you to do? Obtaining a 60 days tourist visa is a walk in the park, and I've never heard of anyone in the US having a problem getting one. Yes, $1000 is ridiculously expensive. There are agents everywhere in Thailand, especially where there are a lot of tourists. You seem a bit gullible. You never ask an agent online about fees.
