Philippines and the ME War
Fred in your great Wisdom? ever since Iran (Persia) became "The Islamic Republic of Iran", why did they make Israel their enemy? Why have they been chanting death to Israel almost 50 years? Why do they hate Israel? - @Enzyte Bob
In 1953, the US and UK removed the democratically elected Iranian leader.
The US put a mass murdering dictator into power.
The Iranians finally dumped the US puppet killer in 1979 with a very popular revolution.
The US lost its cheap oil.
The US embassy was attacked - Hardly a shock given that they had done to Iran, but that was a great excuse to paint Iran as nasty, even though everything that happened was a direct result of US actions.
At that point we have a hard line state looking for a raison d'etre in order to maintain power, and Israel was the perfect target. As we are aware, Israel (supported by the US) is a massive power in the region and has committed large scale crimes against humanity. That makes that particularly nasty state a great target for hate, and some might argue, a legitimate one.
Whilst I am not fan of hard line governments, especially religious ones such as we see in Iran and Israel, Iran has rather special circumstances to contend with.
If the rather nasty government in Israel wants to lose its bad rep, it simply has to stop killing people.
As for Iran, if they want rid of Israel, they are attacking the wrong targets. To really hurt Israel, even defeat it, Iran has to attack the water plants around the Sea of Galilee, the desalination plants in Ashkelon, Palmachim, Hadera, Sorek, and Ashdod, then destroy the wastewater plants that recycle water for agricultural use.
They should also attempt to destroy infrastructure that supplies water from the mountain and coastal aquifers.
Minimal casualties, but no water will force a mass evacuation of Israel.
Once Israel has gone, the US excuse for hating Iran melts away, and the Philippines can get back to normal.
As a note, I'm a disinterested observer, not anti-American, anti-Israeli, or pro-Iran.
Of course I will be cast as the villain because I'm bold enough to point out inconvenient history and suggest Iran's errors in their conduct of the war.
My main hobby, apart from chess, radio, and old underwear, is geopolitics.
That requires a non-partisan approach to every situation in order to minimise errors when calculating likely events.
Perhaps you would like to hear my thoughts on how to destroy the US with zero casualties. It's shockingly easy so I'm amazed Iran hasn't thought of it.
Military minds are trained to prefer large scale violence, but asymmetrical warfare offers options that can remove threats with zero (or minimal) civilian casualties.
Thinking is a fun hobby.
Wined or dined Bob, reality is? Not a fictional novel but where fools are taking us now,,,,,,, yet again. It seems history keeps repeating when it comes to a certain country wanting to stick its fingers into the pie. The fool in charge is now paying the price for his ego.
I never wore a MAGA hat, never needed to as most of the world saw and witnessed the decline of what was once a great nation. clasping at straws, the sky is falling.
Poor but true selection of words from an apparent stupid Aussie. Take the MAGA cap off and open your eyes to the direction a once great country is headed.
I seem to remember that the world was watching the uranium enrichment program in Iran like hawks,,,,, what happened to that arrangement? Who tore up that watch dog?
Israel might feel/see threats but others see bucks and care little how they make them.
Some leaders have a very sad and sordid history,,,,,,, history.
I'll go back to my JD Bob. Red wine is only for the seafood marinara that I make.
The current war is affecting my portfolios big time but a storm I have weathered plenty of times over the decades, the 401k's for those about to retire? The poor constituents definitely can't afford stupidity especially from politicians lobbying with claims of I will reduce living costs, I will stop the wars day 1, I will make America great again,,,,,, no one knew the plastering of his name on historical buildings and the removal of history because it didn't align with his ego. Both he and Netanyahu should have been locked up long ago.
I might be a plebeian but I'm certainly not stupid and no need for a MAGA nor tin foil hat.
Cheers, Steve.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is not an Arab country, but they intentionally bomb Moslems populations of Arab countries, who once were their allies.
The Final Solution? A very poor selection of words by you.
**************************
Fred why don't you reply, instead you meander off.
A little facts for you:
Israel population is 18% Moslem
Israel is 21% Arab
10% of Israels parliament are Arabs.
Almost two million Palestinians are Israeli citizens.
Just what is your purpose on this forum? - @Enzyte Bob
Discussing underwear, especially when it's dirty and visible to the public.
The topic is Trump's war and the Philippines. The problems Trump has caused are worldwide, so offering mitigation strategies is valid within this thread.
In my most humble of opinions, the way to win world peace is to be rid of the aggressive nations, but without the mass killings that the US wars always cause.
A good start would be to destroy Israel's water supply, thus forcing a mass exodus. I think I once read so,ething about an exodus and water, but I can't remember where it was from. However, the mass migration would be on a biblical scale.
That would see the most toxic government in that region removed.
The US is next. Nobody can touch the sates with military power, and twin towers
type attacks are rubbish as they kill civilians and put US public support behind more wars.
The US has two weaknesses:
It's massive nation debt leave it dependent on the petrodollar - BRICS is chewing into that, but following Iran's idea of safe passage for loads paid for in Yuan is a great idea. Smashing the Dollar would make the massive US military unaffordable, so the states would have to retreat to its own borders. In turn, as the country slowly recovers from bankruptcy, it can learn the lessons of stupidity and spend its money looking after its own people, not pandering to oil and armaments cash.
The US of A has another weaknesses that is often ignored - Paranoia.
Thinking about it as a capitalist, I wonder if I can sell my ideas to Iran. 😁
A little facts for you:Israel population is 18% MoslemIsrael is 21% Arab10% of Israels parliament are Arabs.Almost two million Palestinians are Israeli citizens. - @Enzyte Bob
A fact for you. The Muslim birthrate in Israel is massively greater than the Jewish one.
It's only a matter of time before Israel becomes an Arab state. You might argue that the very high fertility rate amongst the Haredi population will negate that, but you also have to take into account the massive inbreeding that is already leading to serious birth defects (Habsburg jaw style) on a mass scale.
They are literally sexing themselves to the infertility and deaths of their descendants.
Let's have a competition to design a new national flag of Israel. Perhaps it should have the Almighty Allah's name in the middle, just like the Iranian flag does.

I found another new pair yesterday. That's 3 so far. There are still a few small packages I never got around to opening, so there may be more yet.
Luckily, these were sent 18 years before the Trump war upset global shipping.
Fred said . . . . Brent is back to 108 at the time of posting, so an oil poor country such as the Philippines might well be forced to make a deal with China in order to upgrade to renewable energy, thus save their economy.
**************************
What about Indonesia?
Indonesia was once a member a member of "OPEC" (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) Their old wells began producing less & less. Soon they were no longer exporting but importing oil.
Indonesian refineries fell behind. Then Indonesia began importing refined oil products from Singapore, a country without any oil.
Singapore's second largest supplier of oil is the USA, about 25%. Singapore is Indonesia's petrol station, supplying 60% of Indonesia fuel imports.

What about Indonesia?
- @Enzyte Bob
Indonesia is engaged with Chinese partners to increase our renewable energy output.
As production increases, the less we will be subjected to price fluctuations caused by US wars. Trump's war is causing significant changes in many countries so mitigation must be a priority, and Chinese solar coupled with cheap EV transport is a very good move.
My wife and I use Chinese bikes for all local running around, and they cost around a Dollar/week each to run when all is considered, including setup costs. Replacement costs for the bikes (or their batteries) and solar charging equipment is cheap as the bikes have tiny power requirements.
Go Chinese, Bob - You can follow Elon Musk's lead.
What, you didn't know that Musk has just signed a massive deal with China to buy solar?
Musk might very well be a despicable character with a personality most rats would be repulsed by, but he clearly knows Chinese solar is the future.
Join in, Bob.

I foretold this a page or two back. It's far from surprising when you consider the number of innocent civilians killed by Trump's war.
I do not advocate revenge killings as civilians are rarely responsible for the actions of their stupid leaders, but it would be very wise for MAGA types to keep their mouths closed when abroad.

What you are doing here is blaming Indonesia for not realising how badly Trump would mess up the whole world's economy.
I have to grant you that one - now think of how stupid the people who voted for Trump are.
Fred . . . .
What would replace oil besides solar & electric vehicles?
Will solar or wind power replace the following things that oil provides to society?
Plastics, synthetic rubber, synthetic fibers, detergents & solvents, fertilizers & pesticides, asphalt, lubricants, medical equipment (heart valves, tubing, iv bags) and medications.
How about transportation: airlines, cargo ships, everyday commercial delivery?
Maybe very wise to keep their mouths closed all the time? There's a lot of ship jumping happening atm.
All that crap aside Australia and the EU have finally signed a unified pact that was 8/10 years in the making and frees up bilateral trade and removes tariffs and fosters defence agreements recognised but one of the main things I took out of the parliamentary address by Ursula von der Leyen was the need to de carbonise and move to alternative energies and halt the reliance on the drill baby mentality and the political B/S that comes with it. Wars, posturing, pressures or simply denying one country in particular the right to run a refrigerator and lights. Wanting to own other countries, the list goes on.
Yep. China has made that dream very affordable for most and it ain't going to stop.
Not only is this ME war killing innocent souls, destroying homes and livelihoods and infrastructure for the sake of? Frigging bucks and fortunately those fools will be left behind wondering what they did wrong in the coming years.

Why do you always reply with double speak or avoid questions when confronted with facts?
We should avoid this war and provide Iran with Nuclear Bombs & ICBMs.
Of course for peaceful means only.
Bob? Look in your own back yard first mate. Australia has a pretty poor track record with how we killed off some 90% of the indigenous population, the oldest continuous people on earth, some 65,000 years of continued history. Blame the British not me. Can the same be said for your people?
A war? just Isolate the problem, cut them off.
Cheers, Steve.

But it's fine for many other countries to "supposedly" protect themselves with the afore mentioned? I don't see Nth Korea nuking anyone, nor France blowing the crap out of atolls these days,,,,,,, thinking persons well know the dangers and your pet hate China that has more more than 600 ballistic nuclear weapons, around the world? Maybe 20, 30,000, well more than enough to obliterate life on this our only world. What's wrong with another dozen?
Personally get rid of them all.
Cheers, Steve.

The countries you mention are not chanting death to the Big Satan or Little Satan. Do you consider the Iranian Mullahs rational people? If they had a nuclear weapon, they would use it, their religion directs them to kill infidels. That's anyone and everyone that don't share their beliefs.
Truman dropped nuclear bombs on Japan to end the war and save countless American lives, because he knew a ground invasion was almost near impossible.
Trump & Netanyahu know a ground invasion in Iran proper would be nearly impossible.
You don't see Trump or Netanyahu considering dropping nuclear bombs on Iran? Big difference
By the way I buy some of the Chinese knockoffs.
Or JD to wine Bob? Australia and Iran are like your apples and oranges but all countries seem to have very sordid histories and you failed my question with regards to your own country and the massacres of the native indigenous land holders, owners.
Personally Bob I really think your elected leaders should be worrying about it's own constituents and not money for themselves, I will stop the wars day 1, I will lower prices, there was no mention of removing history nor plastering his name on establishments,,,,,,, as said remove your MAGA cap and open your eyes. Give us a further 200 billion bucks for this war while people are sleeping on park benches,,,,, my biggest laugh with he who won't be mentioned is that wind turbines kill whales and birds, glass buildings like dump towers kill far more birds and crap in the oceans kills far more whales, marine life.
Perhaps time to think green and not wars.

Your question regarding how long would I last in Iran? I must have missed that but the Middle East for me is only Dubai for transiting and rare. Spent 4 days there 20 years ago and loved the A/C at the bus stops. Our home is the Philippines and so far have no problems but seems you have an aversion to lateral thinking and what your almighty leader has created in once was a great country.
China is the next dominant power, 5 to 10 years and plenty of other countries will pale into history.

How about transportation: airlines, cargo ships, everyday commercial delivery? - @Enzyte Bob
There's a very nice Chinese medium van that can look after all local deliveries- they are getting very popular here.
In China, most short and medium haul flights have been replaced but high speed rail.
China is currently developing an electric thruster that has the potential to take over from the jets we are using at the moment.
Oh, hang on, I forget ships - Google 'Yara Birkeland'.

Because it was a stunningly stupid question
Facts aren't facts because the liars you're quoting are attacking a county.
I care little the liars and fools of the world, so many that can't see the tree for the forest etc. We live our life with little reliance on fossil fuels nor wars we have no control over, a little gas from time to time, a bottle of LPG every 3 or 4 months but the prices do rise created by stupidity by those looking to make an extra buck. we cut 90% of those costs out by simply relying on the sun that will power the earth for the next billion years. Most times you can't fix stupid unless the penny drops.
I think as a simple plebeian well realise I will never change government idiotic policies and chose to bypass the crap and endeavour to be self sufficient, engage and support local producers/businesses and self sufficiency.
While wars rage on? Choices and independence.

I know and you know.
Do you advocate Iran killing 30 to 40 thousands of their civilians?
30 - 40 thousand, based on whose evidence? There's been some serious discussions regarding the accuracy of those figures.
" When reports on #Iran’s armed protests dominated international headlines, one name kept reappearing in #TheGuardian’s coverage: Deepa Parent.
Originally a lifestyle and culture writer, Parent became a frequent commentator on Iran, drawing both attention and controversy for her sources, the narratives she promotes, and her framing of developments inside the Islamic Republic.
From amplifying unverified claims to engaging with foreign‑linked activist groups, a closer look at her sources raises questions about the line between journalism and political advocacy. "
source, here(the video is worth the watch, in its entirety)
" The claim of “30,000 killed” during two days of protests and rioting across Iran appears to be based largely on a single anonymous source, who admitted extrapolating that figure by assuming without evidence that “officially registered deaths related to the crackdown likely represent less than 10% of the real number of fatalities.”
*[Editor’s note: A main source appears to be Dr Amir-Mobarez Parasta, an eye surgeon based in Germany and a supporter of Reza Pahlavi, the son of the former shah of Iran. The latest figures are much lower: “The U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency — which offered the latest figure of 7,003 people killed, including 214 government forces — has been accurate in counting deaths during previous rounds of unrest in Iran and relies on a network of activists in Iran to verify deaths. The continuing rise in the death toll has come as the agency slowly is able to crosscheck information as communication remains difficult with those inside of the Islamic Republic.”] "
" Western officials seized on a dubious death toll of 30,000 protesters to escalate against Iran. The number originates with a single, clearly compromised source. But a zealously pro-war Guardian reporter named Deepa Parent is doing her best to legitimize it, despite having no apparent expertise on Iran. "
Personally, I'm comfortable in my knowledge that no side has a monopoly on propaganda. I "believe" neither side.
Do you advocate Iron targeting civilians in neighboring countries using carpet bombing? - @Enzyte Bob
Carpet bombing? Iran has no air force capable of carpet bombing any country (rather, any city). Perhaps you meant cluster bombs?
The US, Israel, and Iran are not signatories to any ban on cluster munitions, and all three have used them.
In terms of carpet bombing, have you seen video from Iran's capital city, Tehran (a city with 9 million civilian inhabitants)?

Again I'll try to answer an inane question. I have no idea how long I would last in Iran as I've never been there and no interest to find out, little in that country interests me nor most of the ME. For you? Wearing your MAGA hat? Ask yourself the same question. For me it was dangerous enough visiting Chicago, LA close behind and certain parts of the Philippines.

Sorry Bob, you're thinking of the US air force secretly bombing Laos and Cambodia for ten years, not a country like Iran with almost no air force left.
In condemning Iran using a lie, you admonish the US based on the reality of operation Menu and the so many other mass terrorist actions various US presidents have ordered.
The facts of this war are simple.
The US (and UK) removed Irans democracy for oil cash.
The US lost control of the country when their pet dictator killed too many people.
Trump, like an idiot, started a war there was absolutely no need for.
That war is damaging the Philippines' (and plenty of other countries) economy.
If you would like to take this into US war crimes, I have a very long list, but that's really off topic.
