Jollibee in Hawaii

mugteck

Just got to Honlulu on our way to Manila, spending 6 days with family and then flying to Manila.  We are in suburban  Honolulu, many Filpinos living here. Very local concentration of people, even on the Interstate saw no out of state plates.  Went to a local food market, was very Filipino, first hint was a security guy at the door, looked at every receipt and made a mark on it without looking at anything else.  Second thing was a Jollibee within the grocery, and 15 people in line at 5:30 PM.  Thing that caught my eye was a huge poster advertising 25th anniversary specials.   The biggest poster offered a 10 piece fried chicken bucket for $25.  I remember from 2010 that Hawaii is very expensive, most everything imported.  Another "Special" was presented as two spaghetti, two chicken legs and two drinks for $25.  Another was two chicken sandwiches, two smallfries, two drinks, two mango fruit pies for, you guessed it, $25.  Glad I stopped eating meat 18 months ago.  Looking forward  to the Philippines,  enjoy walking past Jollibee.

Was not hungry, just observing local events.  As a no meat eater, been a while since I checked with McD.
