Hi Folks...

I'm a recently retired, soon to be divorced man who, after 24 years in the British Army and another 20+ years in the IT and Space industry is looking to get out of my homeland, the formally great, Great Britain.

Initially, I plan to spend 1, 2 or 3 months in a number of different countries to get a 'feel' for where I might look to settle.  I have visited the Philippines a number of times whilst my Brother worked there during the 00's.  I'm looking to continue an active life in an area that provides a good night life, access to beaches and all major facilities whilst having the ability to 'get away from it all' just around the corner - If that makes sense.

Happy for any advice or information.

It makes a lot of sense.

I don't know the Philippines, but you might like to try a long holiday in Malaysia.  Bali isn't my cup of tea, but it might suit you.

Hello all!!

I'm excited to be coming to the PH in FEB... I'm looking for my last partner in life and to meet other fun Expats. I love pickleball and walks in the rain (just kidding...couldn't help myself). . not kidding about PB. Where are the goto hang outs near Makati, Cebu, and Duma, for Expats, I'll be there for a month or 2. Would love to have some local contacts to answer questions and smooth the road for me.  Bird. Thanks ahead of time. C U Soon

Hi all. Old boy from the UK saying Hi and expressing my intent to retire to Cebu dependant on visa requirements etc.

What to say about myself  hmmm. Well, I've visited PH three times but last visit was about 12 years ago.

I used to work in the oil and gas industries and have a law degree from London.

I'm pretty sociable, enjoy art and museums and love photography and good food, especially seafood.

I'm single and intend to probably live in the Cebu IT Park area.  I have a feeling I will eat out a lot!!

Hope to see some of you around.

All the best,

Roy

Hi everyone! Kylie Here.

I'm a young professional living in the Philippines for all my life but sometimes I dream of living in Australia to further my studies and eventually settle there. I'm still weighing my options, but I'm in no rush at all.

I love my country, especially the thought of travelling our islands and trying local food. If you have questions on where to eat in Metro Manila or even San Pablo Laguna, im here.

bigpearl

Hi Kylie and welcome to the forum. Yes the Philippines is a great country and my home now. If you want to live in and further your studies in Australia make sure you have a very well paying job. Oz is an expensive country to live but a great place.

Enjoy the forum.

Cheers, Steve.

@bigpearl

Where in the PH?

And thank you yes, it would be a big decision.

bigpearl

Hey Kylie, yeah big decision to move to Oz, probably no different to me moving to PH. We are up in La Union a little north of San Juan, nice and quiet part of the world and a great retirement.

Cheers, Steve.

Hi. My name is Bill. My first time in the Philippines was in 1968, and I have been living in our home in Mandaue City since 2009, so I have quite a bit of experience here. I'm married to a Filipina and we have one daughter. I used to be a member of Living in Cebu Forums (LinC Forums) before it went belly up a few years ago. I hope that this forum lasts. It is good to have local expat resources for information. Expats will tell it like it is (or at least how they see it), whereas Filipinos will often give you the answer they think you want to hear.

bigpearl

Welcome to the forum Bill, enjoy.

Cheers, Steve.

BTW, is there a way to get an overview of all topics in the website? It seems like the view I have is rather narrow in scope.

Thanks,

Bill
