Hi, you can consider ampang ukay heights for accommodation. There have very nice environment as there are mostly bungalow area. PM me if you are interested. Tq.

I dont think there is such a thing as an expat-friendly area, even though many expats might tend to congregate in certain places. Things are more dependent on the individual landlord and your relationship with him. But I have never heard of any landlord denying a tenant an animal, which doesnt mean that because a landlord likes your large dog all the neighbors will, too. If the dog is loud and aggressive, you may have problems anywhere you live.

More importantly, where would YOU like to have and raise a large dog? Condos wouldnt be appropriate, not because of landlords or neighbors but because the dogs would like to have space like a back yard and be nearby to parks and walking. Im talking about preference, not rules. So, you would be looking for a house, not a condo. Since most houses in the country are terrace linked houses with no yards, people keep their dogs however they do and often let them roam around the neighborhoods by themselves which I wouldnt agree is a good idea. For this reason, you will see most people have very small dogs because there isnt the built-in space for a large dog to enjoy, and that small dogs create less problems for owners when the dogs must be kept inside the house.

This is only my own personal opinion but I'd say dont bring a large dog here if it makes you a prisoner of the needs of the dog, like where and how to live. When the time comes that you could have a real house of your own with plenty of exterior space, then OK fine. Till then, have a small animal or no animal. Living in a new country is hard enough, why make it harder? But if you insist to bring, then dont worry about expat-friendly areas, just take a place you like and deal with matters as they come along.

Im not sure about boarding and pet sitters. And you need a good vet too. If no answers come along in here, im sure everything can be solved after you arrive. For example, if I needed a pet sitter, i'd poll my neighbors who would likely have a teen who could use come extra cash.

Living in a new country could be exciting yet the challenges of change onto it can be overwhelming.  A  good planning can keep you smooth flowing into its transition.

Having a pet is one of concerns to be prepared with. You are right, it is not appropriate to stay in a condominium because that be of so much restrictions for you and for the pet which will be stressful rather a joyful and playful time for both of you.

You should start looking at landed homes, there are useful websites you can go through such as,
Expat.com, Iproperty, Mudah, Propwall, Ibilik, Kuala LUmpur Property.  ****

There are vet clinics around KL and pet sitters will require you to start hunting on facebook forums or sites to read about how to hire them and so you can match it with your requirements.  And you can start reaching them while you are still in Canada to brief them and introduce how-is a day with your Labrador and your set of house rules. In that way you already do first round training your pet-sitter and make her/him prepare for the workdays with you.

Property Agents shall help you with the plan.  If you are already an experienced renter,  you should be able to emphasize those areas of concerns and start conveying it with your agents.  Anyhow, topmost, is maintaining a good relationship with your landlord, though that is covered in the contract agreement to save both of you from future issues. Continued communication and updates to your landlord would be of great help to maintain a smooth relationship should there are circumstances arise not anticipated in the contract agreement.  Resolving issues quickly and keeping each other informed during the stay. 

To further guide your plan of stay in Kuala Lumpur you should inform your agent with your length of stay, how will the utilities payments, are these things already set or you need to apply for it under your name such as electricity, water, gas and internet, your move-in payment requirement like security deposits, first-month's rent, agreement stamping and other applicable charges,  renovation/repair needed during the stay, house rules/terms and condition in the contract agreement, termination the tenancy and move out procedure/repair costs and cleaning cost in turning over the unit to the landlord and the period of getting back your refund.
