Living alone as an expat in KL

I am afraid your story is only too familiar and on a par with people who come to Malaysia to find work, only to leave about 4-5 months later, when they have no more hope or cash. At least  you found work.

There are flat shares available, and some will accept shorter than one year agreements. Living with other expats would probably be a good move and somewhere with a swimming pool will give you some plus points in terms of relaxation and date nights, if you intend to still see your girlfriend.

I've been to see studios in the area. For anyone else in the same boat, the 'Soho' buildings have a courtyard within which has a campus like feel to it. Not really genuine KL living but it could help the transition.

I've been looking through those sites you mentioned, with a few bookings made.
