Host family for a 16-year-old student near AIS Bali Jan–Jun 2027?

Hello everyone


I am a parent from Germany and new to this forum. Our 16-year-old son is planning to spend the first half of 2027 (roughly January to June) at the Australian Independent School (AIS) Bali on Jl. Imam Bonjol in Denpasar. He will be coming without us. A close family friend already lives locally and will act as his legal guardian, so the formal side is covered. What we would like is a real (non-German) family experience for him.


How did other families find a reliable host family for a teenager attending AIS or another school in the same area?

With little regulation here, I suggest working with the school in order to avoid potential danger, especially in a place like Kuta.

The better route would be a parent or other trusted adult stay with him.

Drunken behavior, street scams, selling drugs on the street, and prostitution are common there, along with all the secondary crime they bring.

I wouldn't go back to that place for a gold pig.
