However, the rules were:

over 55

Enough cash to sustain yourself

I think you had to hire a maid but that needs checking

Use a registered agent

Others might be able to give you better info but THIS may be a handy start.

Number 1 - Watch out for scammers.

They make themselves look helpful, then rip you off.

Your retirement visa has to go through an approved agent, nobody else.

I think I heard something about needing an income of at least IDR 10 million per month for the retirement visa but I might be completely wrong. I haven't researched it as I am not in the position of needing that kind of visa. Many of the large insurance companies are here such as AIA, Prudential, Alliance etc. I think Prudential have good prices depending on your coverage. You need to find the ones that will continue beyond 70 years of age. I think I paid around IDR 24 million per year.

I agree with the above comments about taking care not to get scammed by people showing an interest to help. Make sure to use a registered agent.

Seems like the kind of question a local agent may be able to help with best since I imagine the rules are in constant flux. You will have no trouble finding an agent to help you, and while I'm sure many are great, one I can personally vouch for is Wayan Miarjaya with Excellent Bali Visas (WhatsApp: +62-819-4635-8866) based out of Ubud. I am not here on retirement visa, but he just finished processing my company setup and KITAS over the past few months, and the reason I especially vouch for him is that (through a screw up by my bank) I accidentally overpaid by quite a bit and he was very honest and immediately returned the money once I told him the situation. Solid, trustworthy guy with great English who will be happy to answer questions!

PS You likely already know this, but definitely worthwhile to get WhatsApp installed on your phone and to get familiar with it before you come...it's absolutely the communication tool of choice over here!
