With all due respect, even a 70 year old white, and especially an Englishman, is far more desired in Morocco (and other parts of the world) than an Indian or myself. This has nothing to do with racism on my behalf, but that's the reality on the ground whether we like it or not.

Whenever I visit Morocco, I've seen plenty of old Europeans with Moroccans young enough to be their grandchild. So yes, there will be many who will happily date them in Morocco, and elsewhere!

I also feel their treatment in Morocco in general, was far better than the way they treated me, even though I share a similar culture as them, and I speak Arabic. From the moment I land in Morocco and wait in passport control, I notice how they treat me, compared to the Westerners. The questions I get asked, the way I'm looked at and my stuff searched and so on. While they get waved through with barely a glance.

There seems to be a preference and respect for white skinned Europeans/Americans regardless of age. They also appear to love and respect countries like England/America/France/Canada...Now if Fred has green or blue eyes...!

I believe there are several reasons why.

One of them, is the fact there is a racist mentality across the MENA region, not limited to Morocco. Take for example the media coverage of an incident such as a bombing that has taken place, especially in a tourist area - A tourism minister would say something like "40 have died, but luckily none of them were foreigners (i.e westerners)".

Also across the region (in some countries, not sure about Morocco), Westerners - particularly those looking to invest, receive preferential treatment than the citizens themselves. They get the help and support they need. Which is why some citizens have opted to try and obtain a second nationality just to be given the same treatment in their own country.

When they leave and come back with a Western passport, they enjoy new-found freedoms, respect & rights (that they should already have but unfortunately don't). Not everyone is after a Western passport for economical reasons. Some simply want to have more freedom & rights. To be treated with more respect.

I was treated as inferior, and I agree with you - it's disgusting. The French seem to stroll around as if they still own the place while they looked at me as someone beneath them. The sub-saharan African migrants face much worse, even those legally in the country. I've heard them described as criminals, and so on. Blamed for things. They have never been welcomed by the natives.

This is the wrong thread for this stuff but I'm going to comment anyway because that ruddy terrible attitude bugs the merry poop out of me.
I see it here, white westerners treating locals as if they're servants, things to command rather than people. I saw one guy in a local cinema abusing the hell out of the guy on the popcorn stand because the lad couldn't understand English - Drr, idiot, it's Indonesia - learn enough Indonesian to order popcorn.
The poor popcorn dude was looking seriously upset as another white foreigner (me) was next in line  so I made a point of being very polite (In Indonesian).
I don't want locals to think we're all as stupid as the first guy.

That's just one incident that stood out, but there are plenty more.
No bloody respect for people - Grrrr !

To attempt to get this post roughly on topic ....
I believe that same attitude is the reason SOME men treat ladies the way we're seeing on this thread.
