Hi bev   i am.living here in oujda.   Not much  chance of work here unless you speak the local language plus french.   You may get a post here at the university!   Regards transport from uk/oujda i have used a guy before.  Excellent guy.   Dont send anything new/boxed. I know that customs holds people's belongings. You have to find someone to bring them from there or send them via express Barid banc

Hi Bev, a few points that may help you or others who find this thread:

Customs: Morocco normally lets non-commercial parcels between individuals in duty-free up to about 1,250 DH. Above that, duty plus 20% VAT is charged on the whole value, which may be why your earlier parcel was held. Current rules are on douane.gov.ma.

I'd be careful with the advice to unpack new items so they look used. If customs treats it as under-declaring, it can cost more than the duty would have.

For 2 × 20 kg, compare an extra checked bag with the airline (if you or someone you trust is flying), a UK–Morocco road transporter (priced per kilo; ask for a written receipt), and Parcelforce / Royal Mail international for smaller boxes.

Whatever you choose, keep a list of contents with values, and receipts for anything new.
