US Social Security benefits in Mauritius

Hi

Hope y'all are doing well?

I have a question about the US Social Security benefits. Has any US citizen/ dual citizen been able to get them in Mauritius? I have worked a long time in the US and want to retire in my Island Mauritius.

Thanks and have wonderful day!

Hello.

I am not a US citizen, and certainly not an expert in this area.

As far as I can find, US citizens can get Social security benefits in Mauritius. There are rules to be followed as stipulated by the US and updates every 1-2 years. Forms to fill in every year, etc. But the money can be deposited in to a local bank if you wish. Medicare benefits however do not carry over.

There is information available online, but please consult an expert.

Best wishes.
