Tookays

@sharmaritachetty You could transfer the money without becoming a tax resident in Mauritius. You are presumably a tax-resident somewhere and have paid income tax on the amount anyway. $24000 per annum is the minimum amount you have to transfer for ... Read More

Tookays

@sharmaritachetty I do not think it is treated as 'income' , hence no 'income tax'. In addition, how is the money sent into Mauritius as part of retirement expenses treated? $24000 per year or more.Is this also not taxed in Mauritius? I presume this ... Read More

Official residency for citizens by Ottomus

When a Mauritian citizen comes back to Mauritius, then how to "officially" be resident? Where to go (some government office?) and how to prove that you are an "official" resident of Mauritius (some government document)? The question is for Mauritian ...

As above, a Mauritian passport and ID card prove citizenship, but not residency.I would hope that once you start to pay tax in Mauritius, you become officially 'resident'. I do not know if there are any other legal documents required. You might have ... Read More
