is a bank account required before the EDB appointment?

rspadinger

Hello everyone,

I am currently applying for a Retirement Permit for Mauritius and would like to clarify one point regarding the process.

At the stage of the EDB appointment (for verification of original documents and visa issuance), is it already required to have a bank account opened in Mauritius, or can this be done after the appointment / approval?

I know that I have to transfer funds (minimum 2000 USD) within 60 days after receiving the permit.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Banks should let you open an account with the approval in principle, according to the EDB. Most banks will not . They will want to see the UID and proof of address. Or at least that was the system a while ago.

Good luck.
