Finding work and schools for my children

equanox101

So I am thinking of moving to Mauritius from the United States. I am a dual US and Canadian citizen (and speak both English and French) and the US has decided to generate issues I do not agree with. I have an MBA in Finance and have worked as a Data Team Lead and Engineer for the last 5 years, and 25 years in IT total. I am assuming I should be able to find a job in Mauritius without too much difficulty, please correct me if I am wrong.

I am also interested in the schooling system, as I have a 5 year old son and 9 year old daughter, can anyone give me some insights?

Hello and welcome !

Please note that I have created a new thread from your post on the Mauritius forum for better visibility.

In regards to work, I don't think it is easy to obtain the right job/contract with the right pay. The minimum salary to be eligible for an occupation permit is now 22,500 MUR (which is very low to Canadian/USA standards + you have additional costs as an expat such as (private) schooling, rent, health insurance).

The Cost of living in Mauritius in 2024 might give you some insights about cost of living. It has slightly increased since 2024.

You will have to do some networking to land the right opportunity.

Feel free to create your CV in the Jobs in Mauritius section and on job portals such as LinkedIn, Myjob.mu, careerhub

You may also send a message to Recruitment Agencies in Mauritiusto enquire.

For information about schools, please find some general infos here : Education in Mauritius

There are other threads on the forum where members have asked about particular schools (if they are better).

All the best
