Only if you go to hospital otherwise clinics are private and all prescriptions you can buy unless a certain med needs to be prescribed by GP.  However when you visit GP there is a fee.

Hello Jessjohane,

Welcome to Expat.com 1f600.svg

As highlighted in our Living in Mauritius guide for expats > Healthcare in Mauritius, Public hospitals are freely accessible to both residents and expats. However, while care is free for residents, it is not free for non-residents.

I recommend you take some time to explore our guide, where you will find more valuable information to help you prepare for your move to Mauritius.

All the best,

Cheryl
