Can a parent ask his son to leave the house ?

cathyrouget19

Hello,

Can a parent ask his son to leave the house all of a sudden as per Mauritian Law?

Interesting question.

As the house owner, I would think any parent can ask his/her adult son to leave the house and make his own way in life; and that is anywhere in the world. I don't think there are any laws that prohibit this.

What do you think?

I agree with you but does the parent need to give their son notice to leave?

@cathyrouget19 a request with notice and time frames would be civilised. Unfortunately, parents can say things in anger.

I believe a son can request a time-frame to arrange for shelter, especially when he has someone dependent on him.

Else if no time frame is given, is there any law which could help protect his right?

What does inheritance come into play in this case?

It seems to me that it is a parent who wants his/her son to leave the premises.

Or we are not getting  the whole story;

Does the son has to leave after the death of one of his parents and the other one wants to kick him out ?

Hello everyone,

I too think that the title can be misleading... If inheritance is not involved, can the OP please clarify or allow us to edit the title ?
