Long Term Travel Insurance of Local medical insurance

Hi all, we are coming to mauritius for 12 months and wanted to explore which was best.. long term travel or medical insurance (which is super expensive) or buying a local medical insurance when we get there? Are local policies good enough?


Trying to make sure we are protected but at the same time it has to be cost effective.

I think it makes sense to get local medical insurance if you are staying in the country. As far as I know, not sure there are a lot of travel insurances that are taking care of your medical expenses in foreign countries.
