Cost of living in Punta Cana

Post new topic

Hello! I have the opportunity to start in a managerial job in Punta Cana. The salary would be around 3000 US a month. I have heard taxes are high. So I would like to know if the monthly income after taxes would allow me, my wife and my little daughter live reasonably well at least until my wife gets a job too. I am looking at the worst possible scenario, having to pay myself for rent, food and tuition for my daughter, etc... Thank you in advance!

Hi there.  If you are working for Grupo Punta Cana they generally provide schooling at either a reduced rate or "free" included in your paycheck.  Otherwise, Punta Cana International school runs about $700-1000 USD per month all included.

Apartment rent in Punta Cana Village, you might find for around $800-1000 USD per month.  For lower costs you will need to rent close by in perhaps Veron.  You can get a nice long term rental as low as $5-600 USD per month in Veron.  Again if you are working for Grupo Punta Cana they often include some living expenses as part of your salary.

So depending upon where you are going to live will dictate most of your other expenses.  Veron is cheaper than right in Punta Cana Village.  For everything.  Also bus transportation to and from Punta Cana to Veron is readily available for a nominal price should you not be able to afford a car and gasoline.

Since your situation includes rent, I think you will have to run a tight budget to live decently.  Since you are taking a Managerial position I am pretty sure you are not interested in living in the barrios!

Good luck.  More information from you will prompt more responses.

Welcome to the forums!!! Mike above gave you good info

Depending how you are paid and your legal status, taxes may not be too bad.  We will need more info to help you calculate.  It's normal that your pay is divided up so not all of it is traditional "salary"
