Bulgaria says it's ready!

"Bulgaria is fully ready to introduce the European digital green vaccination certificate against COVID-19. This became possible after the National System Integrator "Information Services" conducted successful tests and completed the integration of the Bulgarian system with the system of the European Commission. This means that the Bulgarian certificates are compatible with those issued by the systems of other EU countries.

According to the regulation, the certificate enters into force on July 1, 2021. The central system is expected to start operating on 1 June, which will allow technically prepared Member States to issue green certificates as early as next month. The green certificate is expected to make travel in European countries much easier."

Please note, this is NOT a mandatory requirement to travel.

The "EU DIGITAL COVID CERTIFICATE" is now available at his.bg (same website for booking for your Covid vaccination appointment).

I just got my 2nd AZ shot. Side effects unexpectedly worse than first one, I felt pretty bad for a day or so.

After your 2nd shot, they will issue you a paper certificate as offical confirmation, and this can be validated online.

The certificate number can be entered to get your EU Digital Covid Certificate for travel purposes.

This is what mine looks like.

It has a barcode which immigration officials can scan to verify that one is fully (2 doses) vaccinated.

I believe that currently (July 2021) all countries in the EU are accepting this certificate and so won't require you to take a PCR test.

Unfortunately, the UK does not yet seem to be accepting these, so I think PCR tests and home isolation rules still apply. (But relaxing requirements for fully vaccinated travellers is still under discussion, so this may change shortly.)

EU official info is here:

According to an email I just received from Wizzair, the EU DIGITAL COVID CERTIFICATE "is issued free of charge in the Member States of the European Union on request and is accepted in Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland in addition to the 27 countries of the EU."

Can you please give information about how to book a inoculation jab

gwynj

Can you please give information about how to book a innoculation jab?

Online BG system is at his.bg which lets you book an appointment time and vaccination center.

My vaccination place (Pulmed, Plovdiv) wasn't ever very busy, so I think you can probably get away with just showing up. I imagine there are several options in Stara Zagora.

They want a release form (available with the booking system, or in paper at the vaccination point) and a copy (both sides) of you residence permit, so they can put you in the system.

The online system uses your personal ID number from your residence permit.

I did see a passport at the clinic last time, so maybe they're happy to treat foreigners without a residence permit too. But I'm not at all sure on this.

You'll then need to return in x weeks to get your second dose. At which point you get the official certificate. And 14 days after that, the certificate will be accepted for travel in lieu of a PCR test.

Okay thanks for your reply

Dear People/Dear Expats,
I am going to arrive in Bulgaria November 6 from Chicago. I have both my vaccines however in the states we just have a piece of paper and nothing digital. Do you know how a US citizen vaccinated abroad can obtain such digital EU passport?

johnSlavi

The US Embassy in Sofia has a page that was updated today with the minimum requirements.

https://bg.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/

"Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes, U.S. citizens arriving from Green or Orange Zones are allowed to enter Bulgaria. The United States is categorized as an Orange Zone country which means that U.S. citizens traveling directly from the United States to Bulgaria are allowed to enter Bulgaria. However, U.S. citizens arriving from Red Zones are not allowed to enter Bulgaria, unless they meet an exception."

You can look at the US embassy in Sofia's website.  It was updated today.

I think good old fashioned dead trees format is fine. :-)

I scanned my original paper certificate, so that's on my phone too. You can't really tell the difference between that digital (pixels) version, and the official digital (PDF) version.

If you decide you really want the official EU digital one, then I guess you can get your shots here in Bulgaria and get one that way. They have started doing booster shots already.

Dear John Slavi,
Thank you
I can enter Bulgaria, but without Digital Covid EU Certificate I cant go to a restaurant or a store.
