Very interesting, the Doctor speaks so us the less educated can understand what the hell is happening in this world. Thank you for this information.

I've just heard that they might start a 24-hour lockdown, starting on the 10th of April.

That's in Isaan, no idea what will follow.

If you make a comment like that you should really provide a source link, otherwise you are just adding to the confusion and undue worry caused by unfounded rumors.

I am following this very closely and am not aware of any official announcements that a 24 hour lockdown or curfew is imminent nationally, by province, or even on a town level anywhere in Thailand at this time, in spite of numerous "clickbait" headlines implying this.

The original Emergency Decree issued on 25 March described a 24-hour lockdown / curfew as a "worst-case-scenario" contingency plan if, and only if less severe measures were ineffective.  Nothing has changed since then; it remains a worst-case-scenario contingency plan, and nothing more.

The fact is that present measures appear to be working.  For the most part, the public seem to be taking things very seriously and complying with guidelines, and official statistics suggest that current measures are reducing the number of newly reported cases.

The maximum number of new cases for a single day in Thailand occurred on 02 March with a total for that day of 188.  In the last week, the number of new daily cases has been trending downward, from 120 new cases on 01 April to 51 new cases on 06 April.

AND this decrease in new cases is in light of ramped up testing, which is significantly increasing day-to-day, so that's an even stronger indicator that current strategies seem to be working.  If present efforts were not working, increased testing would result in a much higher number of newly confirmed cases, not a lower number.

Everyone in Thailand (both Nationals and expats alike) just need to do their part. The public (not the government) is wholly responsible for how this all plays out over the next few weeks.

For those still concerned about rumors of a 24 hour curfew, you can view the OFFICIAL TV announcement made by the Thai Government (in English) yesturday, 06 April here:

BTW, The Thai government is now making daily live televised updates on COVID-19 situation in Thailand...IN ENGLISH by the deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Natapanu Nopakun.

These updates are INCREDIBLY INFORMATIVE and well delivered, not just BS public relations fluff.  Very impressive IMHO!
