Homeschooling in the United Arab Emirates

Hello everyone,

Homeschooling your children as an expat in the United Arab Emirates will definitely come with its load of challenges. Here is a special call to parents who are already homeschooling their children or who plan on doing so to share any information they might have.

Should you opt for homeschooling, is it legal in the United Arab Emirates ? Do you require to register your child or do you need any kind of permission / exemption from the authorities ?  If it is not legal, what alternative option/s do you have ?

How do you go about getting all the necessary educational resources (books, syllabus, notes etc…) to pursue your children's education in the United Arab Emirates ? Does it depend on the curriculum ?

What do you add in your homeschooling techniques to help educate your child that might not be offered or available in traditional schooling ?

How do you socialise homeschooled children in the United Arab Emirates by providing them opportunities to interact with other children ?

If you have any interest in homeschooling, could you please share your views on the pros and cons ?

Thank you for sharing your experience,
Bhavna

Dear Bhawna,

Homeschooling is not the concept here, but however if you are planning to get your kids to clear the O'level exams then that would not be a problem. O'levels registration do not require the kids should come from any education institude (School), anyone can register for the exam.

The requirement for college administration in the USA, you require 5 subjects with the minimum grade as "C". That can be achieved without going to any school.

Yes its allowed
there is no rule to send the child to school as a must
i myself did home schooling to my children approx 7 years in uae
without any problem and my children are more good in their knowledge and work as compare to many other school going children
even in uk usa europe etc home schooling is allowed
actually people dont know the rules generally so they think that its not allowed
usually govt see that the child should be learning progressively in any reasonable way

Does anyone know which online schooling platforms are KHDA approved that are cost effective?
