5 YEARS HERE THIS WEEKEND

Well time flies and weve been here 5 years this weekend so its time for us to apply for our permanent residency and of course celebrate the enjoyment of the last 5 years whilst looking forward to further years here on this beautiful sunshine island - we ve met some lovely people and proud to say we view most of them as good friends. especially our Cypriot friends and neighbours.

The one thing we take from this voyage is that we have met people from all walks of life and all nationalities and spend most of our time with cypriot, maltese, german, american, canadian, bulgarian romanian polish chinese and bangladeshi.. and our latest a fellow geordie mate and his other half from Thailand...     diversity at its best

have fun everyone and have good weekend as we plan to do so on this special weekend

gan canny

We got it !! It was touch and go because our house is in my husbands father & Mother's name and we didn't have any bills with our names on !!!!
We had to get a letter sent to us via email and went back  to immigration yesterday and we have our slip !! Can not wait to get home and give my notice in. Bring it on .

I can not thank the people that helped us !!
Cyprus were coming to get ya 😁😁👍👍

Good luck.. the time will fly by....

Congratulations!

Lucky you. Your 5 years are up before Brexit! We only have 3 years so no permanent residence assured yet. :-(
Looks like the exchange rate is going to drive us back to Scotland sooner than might otherwise have been the case. We had been considering returning, maybe in another 12 months but it now seems financially better to do it sooner whilst the £1 is collapsing and we can sell up and get a lot more of them for our Euros. Who knows, we may even recoup some of the £20k plus I reckon Brexit has cost us so far!
Enjoy your life as a Cypriot.

Sorry to hear of that but who knows - it is still possible to get to stay with an MEU1 and the the MEU3 later but riding out the B shitstorm is going to be hard with the falling pound thats for sure... some will manage others wont...

Not quite a Cypriot but certainly will enjoy our lives as EU nationals with all the freedoms we currently enjoy.

Just got our appointment sorted out today for our MEU3 application -  14th October 2019... yey superb timing

its never bloody easy is it

when asked what docs needed to support MEU3 application we were given a checklist (unticked)

but when we look at their website you get this list

Recommended documents which may be submitted for the application of a Certificate of Permanent Residence, by the person concerned in order to prove continuity of Residence in the Republic of Cyprus. Note that the below mentioned documents are not all required in every case, nor individually, but as appropriate depending on the case.
1) Certificate of Registration or Residence Card.
2) Rental agreement or property sale contract, or title deed, for the last five years. (NB NO MENTION OF TAX STAMPING OR STAMPING BY THE MUKHTAR - WHO WOULDNT KNOW US FROM ADAM)
3) Utility bills or statements of accounts from the relevant Authority (water, or telephone or electricity) dating back five years.
4) Bank statement dating back five years. (NB NO MENTION S OF BANKS STAMPED FROM BANKS HERE AND UK)
5) Social Insurance Certificate for contributions over the last five years by month.
6) Any other document proving the completion of a continuous period of five years in the Republic of Cyprus.

so it seems to me that they want almost the same documents (but updated) that we provided for our current MEU1 certs but now also want

1. some apostiled
2. some stamped by the village Mukhtar
3. some tax stamped by the local tax office
4. banks statements stamped by our banks here and UK

FFS

we had our MEU3 interview this week and wow was that epic 5hrs in Immigration  - 4hrs 35mins waiting and a 25min stint with our paperwork (5 years worth of bank statements etc)... so all done and dusted just got to wait for the formal MEU3 permit

it was uncomfortable, very busy and very hot  - - -  we arrived when it was crammed with people, queues down the stairs.... got our queue ticket no53 and no17 had just gone in...

anyway its done

Great news Toon ..Well chuffed for you!!
Have a great weekend.

thank you
