Hi fellow forumers,
We have at last had a response from our Portuguese embassy, and they told us that the certificado de bagagem is only valid for three months. This will not be giving us much time for house hunting.
Has anyone got any experience of this? The lady from the embassy said we will have to go to the customs office in Portugal once we land and see if they will allow an extension
Thanks in advance

I would ask your shipping agent. They will know exactly what you will need. Most of us rented first and then arranged to have our belongings sent. Our certificado was rejected and returned because I had a typo in my street number and it didn’t match all the proof of residency I offered. Unless the rules have changed you are allowed up to two shipments in your first year. Not sure of the start date but most likely from the time your visa is granted.

Thank you. Our international shippers have said they do everything except the certificate. Our intention was to rent first while looking but we were going to keep our stuff in Canada storage until we wanted it shipped.
Did you end up paying tax on all your stuff? Or did you get it ok?
