Is there anyway to download ebooks using my Kindle while I am in Mauritius?

My parents managed to download books no problem in Mauritius. I thought you couldn't, so now I'm going to get one.

I have never had any problem to download anything while living in Mauritius, maybe sometime difficult due to the slow connection but no websites are blocked over there on the contrary to Middle East where I live now!

You can download ebooks no problem. You might rant a bit about the slow connection, but to my knowledge, no sites are blocked here.
