How many days/years to qualify for NZ Citizenship?

Post new topic

Kia Ora,

My name is Lauren and I migrated here from the U.S. in 2015. I got NZ Residency in October 2015 and Permanent Residency in November 2017.

I have read the statutes etc. and am confused about the 1350 days total spent in New Zealand as a Resident with a Residency Visa and then 5 years.  If I was granted Permanent Residency in November 2017, Residency in October 2015, and have not left New Zealand at all (and do not plan on leaving) what is the earliest date I can apply for Citizenship?

Is it April 2019 or some date in 2020?

Please let me know and thanks!

You need to have been here for 5 years so it would be a date in 2020. Have you checked  www.govt.nz site which has a list of questions / steps you can follow to see it you can get citizenship.
