Hi all,
Newbie on the Romania forum? Dont know how to start?
This thread is for you
We invite you to introduce yourself on this topic, to share with us your expat story if you are already living in the country, or to tell us more on your expat projects in Romania if you are planning to move there.
It will enable us to help you better but above all to wish you a warm welcome.
Welcome on board!
I'd also like to welcome the new members of the Romania forum
Also, I'd like to address a few items that I've noticed over the years that I often observe of new members, to help you make the most of this site and avoid problems. These items mentioned also correlate to our Forum Code of Conduct, which you should all read and follow please.
1. Stay on topic - This topic is for introductions only. If you have questions or wish to comment about something another member has mentioned in their introduction, please find an appropriate topic, start a new topic, or use the PM system to contact the member. Off topic posts may be removed.
2. Do not post contact information - Contact information of any kind is not allowed on the forums. I remove all posts containing contact info, without exception. This is for your security. If you wish to share this information with a particular member, please use the PM system.
3. Search the forum before posting - Many questions and answers may already be posted on the forums, so please search first. Myself and other members have posted a large amount of accurate and useful information for you to benefit from. If you don't find what you need, then please post a new topic with a descriptive topic title (Please don't use topic titles like "Hello", "Help" or "Information please"), and present your question or concern so others may reply and help you.
Please do not PM me as your first option. While I have posted a lot of advice and information about life in Romania, and I freely assist expats; please understand that I am not the only member with experience or knowledge, my opinion is only one of many possible opinions, and I am not here to spoon feed information to others that won't take time to search the information already posted. Please respect my time and effort and I will help if I can, though my time is limited.
4. Advertising is not allowed on the forums - This is mentioned in the Forum Code of Conduct, and is strictly enforced. We have designated sections, (JOBS) (HOUSING) (CLASSIFIEDS) (BUSINESS DIRECTORY) where you may advertise or seek recommended services for free. Please use these sections, and keep the forum for discussions of expat topics.
I hope everyone finds this information useful and will benefit from their new accounts on Expat.com. Start posting, start sharing!

I am an american living in Bucharest. It is so hard. I cannot find work and I am well educated with a BS in Business Administration with options in accounting and corporate management. But it does not seem to matter here. I love Romania and just want to stay here. I fell in love with this country but I am running out of time to get a work permit and residency card and fear I am going to be forced back to Russia for 90 days and then come back to try again. I am tired. Why is it so hard? Why can't anybody help?
I came here because there was just nothing left in the United States. I am in the middle of a divorce and want to just start over here. I can substantiate everything I am saying. This is really my last effort. I hope someone out there can help. I am not sure what to do anymore.

Hello everyone,
I am Romanian, my husband is an American working as a pastor and English teacher, and we live in Bucharest with our little one. As we have many Romanian and international friends here, we enjoy organizing little events every now and then, so that we can get together with whoever can make it. (We just posted a trip to Busteni that we're organizing in June if you want to check it out.) We both know that an expat's life can be amazing and challenging at the same time, and thought that it might be a good idea to let other people know about the fun activities we organize, just in case they'd like to join us.
I'm looking forward to meeting you!
Hi everyone,
I am here already. applied for residence permit. so, see you soon
Hi,
I am an American-Romanian living near Sibiu.
If there is someone that needs questions answered about living and working in Sibiu, I can gladly help.
Moved to Romania in 2009 from USA. I was so concentrated on building our business completely forgot to renew ny Permis de Sedere after 5 years. The banc manager mentioned it was a year out of date. I attempted to renew but immigration was none to happy and I was given to option to leave on my own accord with right of return of be removed and banned. Obviously I left on my own. Of course business collaped once I left but will return this summer and do it all over again.
Kenyan here, married to Romanian love. Tell me when you get the information, looking for that atm as well.

Hi, everybody!
I'm American and first came to Bucharest six years ago from the wonderful small town of Spring Green, WI. I originally intended to stay a year but I'm still here! And happy about it!
Two years ago, I got married to an amazing Romanian woman, and we now have a little one-year-old that fills our lives with so much adventure and joy... and mess.
During my first five years in Romania, I worked as a kindergarten and primary school English teacher while I also taught private English lessons and served at [link moderated], a small international church in Bucharest. I'm currently serving as the pastor of the church and so no longer teach English since I don't have the time, but I may get back into teaching at some point. I miss the kids!
