Inherited house. Need to get it ready to sell.

Greetings,

The short story, my wife's parents died suddenly in July and we just inherited a house near Meerbusch full of everything her parents owned. We don't want to keep any of the household items. We're looking for an organization (a charity would be great) who will come in and empty the house.

We're currently in the US and are not sure how to find that kind of service in Germany, if it even exists.

Can anyone suggest and organization who would be able to help us?

Thanks.

Search classifieds sites for "Entrümpelungen" and "Haushaltsauflösungen". There are many such service providers.
Please note that you'll have to pay for their efforts - just giving them the house content for free would not work, because the second hand goods market in Germany is so low-priced that they won't be able to recover their costs (plus disposal of items that cannot be sold, which isn't cheap either).
Charities who offer this service exist in some locations, but will cost you similarly. (At least the money and furniture will be used for a good cause.)

Thanks for the reply. We're going to meet with Caritas and see what they say. They can empty the house and sell what they can and use the proceeds for their charity.  You're right, it will still cost us money to get the job done.
