I often think to myself that without the friends that I have made in Riyadh keeping me sane I would have gone home a long time ago. I met most of these friends on this blog BTW, most of them helping me to go shopping when I did not have a car and having BBQ's and get-togethers in order for us to meet each other and become friends.

That being said; when you are sat in your apartment/house ect.. Bored, what can you do?

Well, I found myself doing these things:

1, Going to a mall and walking around, you will soon learn your way around Riyadh using the malls as reference point. You may even bump into someone you can have a conversation with.

2, Go to a car dealership and look at the cars, beware; these guys attitude to customer service is beyond belief, you literally have to force them to try to sell you the car.

3, Go to the top of Kingdom Tower when it is dark, it's a very good sight.

4, Take up golf, there are a few courses and driving ranges. It releases aggression and gets you some exercise.

5, Drive around and choose a random non chain food joint preferably a choice of food you are unfamiliar with. Ask the guy to surprise you with a dish that he recommends and you have never heard of.  You might just find a food that is amazing and you would never have experienced.

6, Find an American guy and ask him why he spells his English different to the English proper way in England (this is a joke BTW).

Thats all I can think of for now, feel free to post your own.

2. buy a copy of "desert treks from khobar/riyadh/jeddah" at Jarir and do all the drives/treks. That will keep you busy for atleast a few months and give you an idea of the outdoor activities in saudi. There is beauty in the desert.

So I was doing this wrong? I used to ask British dudes why they don't speak American properly!

Just kidding, here is what I suggest...

1. Learn something you always wanted, programming, musical instrument, language, dancing...

2. Perhaps it's time to see whats in the kitchen? I rarely cook, and my cooking isn't that great anyway, but when I do, I find it relaxing & fun.

3. Exercise. In addition to health benefits, its a good way to socialize if you workout in a gym.

4. Play practical jokes on your roommate & friends, but don't get upset when they play their own on you :P

That's all I can add for now :D
