re. tax rate for TCNs

some Serbian nationals complained that they are being taxed at a single rate despite the fact that they are married and provided Marriage Certificate to prove it, on the pretext that (in some cases) the spouse resides abroad.
this does not seem right. any info?

I would guess that if your partner is not resident in Malta ( and not a EU citizen ) then you would be classed as a single person for tax purposes.

Best is to phone the tax office and ask, they are very helpful.

Yes,They did same to me.I was in Serbia,and my partner works in Malta.I had Work befor in Malta.Just ,I care of my san in Serbia.,for 2years,and he been in Malta.He paying as single,and me too.
