Tap water - cooking/drinking help needed

Post new topic

TazmaniaK

Hi all.

I have recently moved to Cairo.  I am just wondering what most people are doing with regards to water for cooking and drinking? Do you use the tap water for cooking and washing vegetables and fruit? I have seen the tank three stage water filter in Carrefour. Is it okay to drink from it?

Does anyone have it or recommend it? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Water is very important, just talking about with a friend, learn everything you can about it. I live in Canada and try not to even brush my teeth with tap water. I never cook with it. Filters are better for bathing. I do still wash my dishes in tap water but it's full of many things including floride and medication.

Here are some links about water. Distilled is the best. I now fill my jugs at a distillery.

Morning Tazmaniak,

Water in Egypt is not the best thing in the world, however you still can use it, and it depends mainly where do you love in Egypt. Generally, you may get yourself a water dispenser "starting from around 600 EGP" and contract with Nestle to provide you with mineralized water pots "each cost around 25 EGP with 50 liter capacity".. This is for drinking water. As for cleaning and washing water, you may use tap water, it is safe.
One more thing to mention, from a while to while try to drink from tap water, to keep your kidneys functioning well : )

Have a nice day my friend,
Sherief
