Can i drive with my Californian driving licence as tourist in Chile?

Terrytruitt

Hi
My wife and I are planning on going to Chile in January. We plan to check out the area around the city of Temuco for a place to move to. I have a California drivers license. Is it league to drive in Chile as a tourist the first visit or do I need to get a Chile drivers license?

Hello Terry

For better visibility and response, Kindy note that your thread has been moved to the Chile Forum

I think you should apply for an international driving licence in California to be able to drive in Chile.

Oh yes.
Better take an International Driving License. Remember the GENEVA CONVENTION ON ROAD TRAFFIC (1949).

Well...look, when my father went to Europe he went to Automovil Club of Chile "http://www.automovilclub.cl/" and pay a couple of dolars to get the international license.... so i think is kind of same here.

You could ask anyway here automovilclub.cl/
